FULL NAME --- Kamila Mei Sykes
BIRTHDATE/AGE --- August fourteenth, 1992/18
GENDER --- Female
SEXUAL ORIENTATION --- Straight -- not really looking for anyone, but will accept any species except dwarves. They just aren't her type.
SPECIES --- Human. Plain and simple.
OCCUPATION --- Streetlord -- basically, a gang leader. Sometimes considered as just a thief. Her skill is just staying alive, and that's about it.
APPEARANCE ---
Sykes tends to look reserved. She's usually glaring, scowling, or using her poker face with no emotion showing. Her long hair is usually pulled back in a bun or ponytail. When down, her black waves fall to her shoulders. Meeting her gaze means being pierced by steely grey eyes. Her eyes are slightly slanted, as if she was of Asian descent, and she has a tattoo of a intricate lace design around her right eye that's been there for as long as she can remember.
Kamila has a small structure, but she's quick. She has a slender frame, with delicate arms and a skinny waist. Her lifestyle has given her muscles though, and her arms and legs are lean without being too buff.
Being on the streets, Kamila doesn't have a very large choice of clothing. She typically has worn-out jeans and a t-shirt. Whatever she can "find," which, in Syke's mind, means steal off someone's back. She has old hunter's boots that she often wears that she got a few years back. Since they're well-made, the leather has yet to crack or tear. She often has black cotton coat that reaches the top of her thighs around her during the cold days. When it's raining, she can be seen with the same coat and a hood thrown over her head, covering her eyes. In heat, the coat is tied around her waist.
Aside from clothing, Kamila often has a few knives hidden away on her person. When living the dangerous life, you never know when an old enemy is out to get you. A shine or a glint from tucked in some boots or hidden up a sleeve might mean an odd form of jewelry for some. To Sykes, it means run, because there's a weapon there, sharpened to kill.
PERSONALITY ---
Kamila is a cynic. Straight-up, she doesn't trust anyone completely. Even her closest friends and followers, she doesn't tell everything. But, then again, everyone has their secrets. Kamila is easily angered and doesn't take anything from anyone, no matter who they are. She feels everyone should be equal, because, in her opinion, nobles are all snobs who don't give a rip about any of the poorer people. Her temper tends to flare when she's annoyed, and, considering her skill with a knife, it's dangerous to be around her when this happens.
Kamila isn't cocky. She's just trying to survive, but she has to be confident in herself to keep herself breathing. Her attitude doesn't change either. Sykes doesn't have a "soft" side that would attract most males. She's not the savage beast that can be tamed by the one man. She's the savage beast all the time. Her trenchant words and feisty personas are as much a part of her as her right hand. They are something she can't live without, and, though she can act the part of the innocent girl if needed, any lover of hers will have to learn to love her for who she is, ferocity included.
FAMILY AND HISTORY ---
Kamila Mei Sykes comes from a family of street-rats. She has no real home. She's basically a beggar. As were her parents, who both died when she was younger. Her father died when she was 10 years old in an accident. He'd gotten a job in a factory that dealt with poisonous chemicals. Obviously, it wasn't a good job, and he wasn't paid much. But they had gotten by. That is, until there was a leak and poisonous gases killed nearly everyone in the factory, Kamila's father included.
Her mother died six years later, from disease. Kamila had already moved out by then, choosing the dangerous life on the streets over the life that left her going to bed nearly every night with an empty belly. She'd gone o her mother's side, to take care of her, but it was too late -- not that Kamila could get the medicine anyway.
As a child, Kamila hadn't gone to school. Her mother, having gotten a job as a noble's chambermaid and learned to read and write there before she was married, chose to teach her daughter on her own, not trusting the government to take care of her. Kamila learned to read and write, and do math and such. Nothing advanced, but enough. She fell in love with reading, and attacked any literature she could get a hold of.
Aside from that, Kamila's life was fairly straight-forward. She had too poor of an upbringing and decided it was better being a streetlord than anything else. It just stuck with her. She taught herself to fight, especially after dealing with bullies as a kid, and, with practice, being the quick-learner she was, Kamila became good at it.
Aside from a few narrow escapes, cheating death a few times, throughout her life -- a close call when she tried to steal from a noble, battles with rival thieves, and other such things -- the only other interesting tidbit about Kamila is the "M.I.A." state of her brother. When she was eight, her brother disappeared, and Kamila has no idea where he went or if he is even still alive.
