Full Name--- Livinia Varan (Nicknames: Liv, Livie)
Birthdate/Age--- April 11, 1986 / 27
Gender--- Female
Sexual Orientation--- Bi although she doesn't really care much about species or gender
Occupation--- Knight-Captain of the Morningvale Order
Appearance---
Livinia is best described as tall, pretty, and serious. She still stands somewhat shorter than her male counterparts but compared to other human women her height is more significant. She has a light complexion and tends to burn rather than tan in most cases although she has relatively few blemishes or marks of note on her skin. Her hair is a straight, rich dark brown flowing well past her shoulders and she doesn't like to put it up in any of the trendy, elaborate styles typical of a noblewoman. She's not one of those people who stays skinny no matter what they eat or do, and exercises regularly to maintain her slender physique which has also given her a well toned layer of muscle. Her eyes are a dark brown, much like her hair, and she doesn't use a lot in the way of cosmetics to enhance her appearance.
Livinia's fashion sense also isn't what one would expect of a woman of her status. Instead of entire castles full of dresses of varying lengths and styles, she has a relatively small, and simple wardrobe. The most extravagant outfit she owns is easily her set of plate armor which polished to the point of reflection and features intricate designs which are especially noticeable on the pauldrons and breastplate. Attached is a thick white cape, with two green stripes running vertically up each side and a light brown layer on the inside. Attached to the faulds is a similar cloth, although it's decorative in nature even more so than the cape, and Livinia usually only wears it during more formal events where she's on horseback for whatever reason. Aside from that she tends to wear elegant, yet simple, outfits such as a doublet, breeches, and boots. She has a deep, abiding hatred for more hats and headdresses beyond a simple hood and she only wears a helmet grudgingly. Regardless of what she's wearing or where she is, Livinia, will always have her Longsword at her side and she hates to part with it for any reason, almost as much as she hates headdresses.
Personality---
A lot of words could be used to describe Livinia, but none really capture who she is like the word driven. Livinia is a very energetic young woman. She's always doing something and cannot stand wasting time. She didn't get to where she is today by wasting time at parties or sleeping in until noon. This doesn't mean she eschews social events altogether, she'd just rather not go to one if she has something better to do. She's an eternal optimist and rather than coming up with reasons for failure, she instead pours her energy into ensuring she'll succeed in the first place. To her failure means she didn't try hard enough and rather than wallowing in defeat she simply tries again, undaunted. She tends to approach life like a battering ram, knocking down problems big or small with a mixture of aggression, bravery, and tenacity. Her overall straightforward approach tends to make those haven't met her think she's simply using blind aggression as a crutch making up for a lack of intellect. This couldn't be further from the truth, as she applies the same energy she uses for everything else in life to her education as well and her more devious machinations often surprise those who underestimate her wit in the first place.
Livinia is overall a friendly person, and tends to be rather formal around people she doesn't know very well. Even to people she doesn't really like she's at least respectful. At least to their face, what she says to herself and tells people she trusts is a different matter entirely. She's usually fairly quiet with a serious demeanor even at parties, and while not an anti-social woman by any means she doesn't exactly go out of her way to get know people either. Her preferred social gatherings tend to be more outdoors with events such as jousts, fairs, or festivals. Livinia really opens up more when her mind is engaged. Whether it's sparring, pouring over a map, or journeying somewhere, she's much more outspoken and prone to conversation. She revels in action, and if she can't be doing something physically she prefers to be a study of some sort with her peers planning for possible conflicts in Molibor's future.
It takes a lot to really anger Livinia, but it's very easy to get on her nerves. She can't stand being around people who incessantly chatter about nothing and idle gossip. The easiest way to get on her bad side is to play down her accomplishments and make her feel worthless. Her ego is more than a little over sized and she craves recognition. It's not that she really wants to be an important person it's just that she wants important people to understand that she isn't unimportant. Aside from that she's typically quite humble and doesn't boast much, preferring to let her deeds speak for themselves. The biggest show of her more humble side is how little she takes advantage of her noble heritage. She doesn't make people address her properly, or flaunt her families wealth and she certainly doesn't view herself as above any kind of work. This is more born out of a streak of independence, and a general disdain for the rest of her family more than anything else. But it does endear her to those not a noble heritage that she's met and worked with.
When it comes to love and romance, Livinia really isn't looking for anyone special really. To her it implies settling down, and settling down is not something she wants to do for a long time to come. She's good for occasional flings but don't expect a commitment of any kind. Her loyalties are to her comrades, order, and kingdom. One important thing to note about Livinia is that while she is a Knight in the Morningvale Order, nothing in the Orders code specifies fighting fair on the battlefield. Livinia values her life a lot more than she does about being "fair" to someone who's trying to kill her.
Family and History---
Livinia Varan was the fifth child of Richard Varan ruler of the Mirelana Barony. Mirelana wasn't a very important region overall, and Livinia was considered to be the "useless child" by Richard and his wife, Elessa. She wasn't ever going to be in a position to inherit the Barony (barring a catastrophe that would kill her entire family, in which case she'd likely be dead as well) and Richard had three other children he had to somehow marry off, leaving her as the odd child out. Livinia doesn't remember much from her childhood aside from a large lack of love, and being the target for her most of siblings pranks and jokes.
It wasn't long however, before Richard was able to not only get rid of her but increase his only prestige in the process. When Livinia was seven, she was "volunteered" to serve as page in the Morningvale Order. This had the effect of not only getting rid of Livinia but also gave Richard a celebrity status for his "noble sacrifice".The young Livinia wasn't exactly heartbroken by the turn events and went to Morningvale Castle if not gladly then at least contentedly.
Livinia spent the rest of her childhood and teenage years training to become a Knight, acquiring many of the skills and mannerisms she displays today. Moving up from a page to a squire she served under the Knight Miguel Swire for several years, and many aspects of her more practical/stubborn side were passed down from the tenacious Knight. Livinia never felt a compulsion to rebel as many would expect a teenager in such forced circumstances. While the lifestyle was hard Livinia enjoyed it greatly and for the most part accepted her place in the world. At twenty one she achieved Knighthood after winning a tourney near Agia.
As a Knight, Livinia, was mainly tasked with wandering the Kingdom of Molibor, settling issues between Duchies, slaying bandits, and all the other duties that go along with the rank. At twenty three she went on a expedition with several other Knights led by Miguel to slay a feral dragon in the mountains, threatening the city of Actias. While the Knights were successful, Miguel was killed, and many others were injured in the skirmish. Nonetheless, Livinia, and the others returned in triumph and spent a good time recuperating while also mourning their losses.
Livinia's biggest claim to fame thus far came two years later, on the island of Dimia. It was there that Livinia tracked down a wizard named Garef Kilnsman. Garef was known as the "Pirate-Mage" for using his skills in water magic to capture trading ships off the coast of Molibor. Livinia, working with several traders and a contingent of troops, eventually tracked Garef to his home on Dimia where they then laid siege to the small pirate fortress. After a mere week, Livinia and the others were able to breach the forts defenses and in the ensuing fight she nearly cleaved the famous pirate in half with a greatsword.
Upon her return Livinia was promoted to of Knight-Captain, one of the youngest people to ever achieve the rank. Now her time is divided between what you typically expect a Knight to do, and more political activities. She often acts as the Morningvale Order's representative abroad and adviser to the nobility of Molibor on all things military. One day she hopes to become Knight-Commander of the Order, and she's always on the lookout for anything that would bring glory to herself, her Order, and her Kingdom.
