In 2023 Grupo Restaurantero Gigante (GRG) celebrates two decades of commitment and action in projects that have had a positive impact on society and the environment. That is why on this special occasion we announce an initiative that not only advocates for the social development of the community, but also for animal well-being: the Cage-Free Chicken Egg Project. This commitment to animal welfare and sustainability led GRG to begin its collaboration with Heifer México and Kikibá. The result of this innovative vision was the production of fresh, organic and responsible eggs throughout the value chain. But how has he achieved it? We tell you all the details about the great progress that has been achieved in just a couple of years! Responsible egg production, what is it about? The Grupo Restaurantero Gigante Cage-Free Chicken Egg Project has been part of the Productive Projects family since 2021. It originated in response to the growing concern about the well-being of birds and the environmental impact of egg production under conventional conditions.
Which, in turn, would contribute to improving the quality of life of several families in Mérida, Yucatán . To address these challenges, the project was created in collaboration with Heifer México , an organization that works to end hunger, poverty and protect the environment, and with Kikibá, a collective brand of producers whose Middle East Mobile Number List objective is to obtain quality food and generate sources sustainable income. Responsible egg production Social benefits through animal care The collaboration with the women entrepreneurs of the “Entrepreneurial Women Innovating Sustainable Communities” project has provided them with economic opportunities and empowerment. By marketing eggs through Kikibá, 85 women have achieved a stable source of income that allows them to strengthen their families and their community, impacting around 348 people. Furthermore, this responsible egg production has had a significant scope. In 2022 alone, 23,327 kg of eggs were sold, generating an income of $563,747 for these women, demonstrating that animal care is not at odds with economic growth. Therefore, it is a fundamental part of the social responsibility of both SMEs and companies such as Grupo Restaurantero Gigante and its brands (Toks Restaurants, Beer Factory, Panda Express, Shake Shack and El Farolito). Furthermore, this focus on animal welfare and social commitment contributes to raising awareness in society about the importance of consuming responsible and ethical products. This seeks to inspire consumers to actively seek out products that respect animal welfare and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
